Tropical Biologist - Photographer -Filmmaker

Stephanie is currently undertaking development research for Amberjack Films and has previously carried out research for Oxford Scientific Films. She recently undertook the role of the Species Communication Assistant for the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Global Species Programme on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species, to raise awareness and educate the wider audience. With a scientific background and creative mind, Stephanie is highly passionate about natural history filmmaking and science communication.

Stephanie graduated with a First Class Honours degree in BSc Tropical Biology from the University of Nottingham. She spent a year studying and living in Malaysia, where she undertook hands-on animal research on mammals, invertebrates, fish and coral, and fieldwork in tropical rainforests, mangroves, rivers and coral reefs. Stephanie’s main areas of study included animal behaviour, tropical ecology and biological photography. She gained a First Class award for her dissertation on tropical ant social behaviour at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, as well as on a wildlife magazine she produced to a brief for a module, including her own photography, graphic design and editorial content. Stephanie was the Head of Factual at Nottingham’s Student Television Station (NSTV) producing, directing and editing documentaries for the university.

Stephanie’s passion to educate the public to conserve our wildlife is shown through her volunteering work. She has worked at the China Conservation and Research Centre for the Giant Panda Dujiangyan Base; the Management and Ecology of Malaysian Elephants (MEME) at the Eco Film Festival in Kuala Lumpur; Zoo Negara Malaysia; and the Juara Turtle Project on Tioman Island, Malaysia. She is also a UK ambassador for Save The Paradise non-profit foundation working on the Mompiche-Ecuador Rainforest Preservation project
